At the Stellar Children's Museum, we engage children and families in exciting experiences that instill an appreciation of our environment, develop foundational skills, and ignite the thirst for learning. The Museum is a welcoming, safe, imaginative, child-centered learning environment that supports diverse families in nurturing their children's creativity and curiosity. We believe in the intrinsic value of play and provide opportunities for experiential learning, and multisensory, object-based exploration. Through our educational play-based exhibits and programs, we focus on key developmental areas like Gross and Fine Motor skills, Sensory Awareness, Social & Emotional Learning, Problem Solving and Language & Literacy. Our educational focus is built on the theories about open-ended opportunities for play and its potential to support and enhance a child’s ability to learn and solve problems. We believe that that children learn though active experiences and moments of shared discovery in their environment and that during play, children are able to think in more complex and abstract ways.
We have respect for all children and their amazing abilities! At the Stellar Children’s Museum we believe in getting objects out of cases and into children's hands in exhibit areas where children can interact, experiment and follow their own curiosity. These activities engage children and their families in discovery experiences that instill an appreciation of our world, develop foundational skills, and spark a lifelong love of learning. As an early museum experience for young children, our environment is simple and informal. We encourage imagination, curiosity, questioning, and problem solving. We believe that children are always learning and deserve an exciting, safe place to play. Families and caregivers, who are a child’s first teachers, also get to join them in this wonderful adventure. Children from diverse communities connect over play and learn more about the world around them.
